one thing i will add we've seen an explosion, for example, in food stamps in the obama administration, but that's a program that was really begun under george w. bush who increased it tremendously then. there's kind after bipartisan consensus that is increasing a certain amount of dependency on government. >> steve: and it has to do with the economic circumstances we find ourselves in right now. look at skyrocketing people who are suddenly on disability simply because, many surmise, they've run out of government benefits and only way they can get money back in the kitty. >> well, republicans are worried probably more about the increase in welfare spending i don't know what is warranted by the economic down turn because clearly, with what happened to the economy in 2009, 2010, a lot more people than usual were going to need some economic assistance from the government. no doubt about that. but the problem is, is that the spending has increased beyond that at a higher, greater pace than what would have been warranted just by our hard times. >> clayton: byron york, always good to see you
